Live streaming giant Netflix recently launched Fast.com, a simple and easy to use website which tells users their download speed. It serves as an alternative to the highly popular Speedtest, at least in terms of knowing whether you’re getting the download speed you’re paying for. According to the FAQs section on Fast.com, “download speed is most relevant for people who are consuming content on the Internet, and we want fast.com to be very simple and fast”. For those wondering why only download speed is tested and no info on ping, latency and other network-related information are provided, Netflix says that the site is “a simple-to-use way for consumers to estimate what speed their ISP is providing. It is not a network engineer’s analysis and diagnostic suite”.

Give Fast.com a try. It will work on any device with a web browser.
